Wake Up

A new songs by Tim Hughes, Martin Smith and Stu G. I’m sure it’ll sound good on the forthcoming Tim Hughes album. Enjoy the acoustic album for now… find it here

RFC Unplugged – Feb 19th

Reading Family Church is putting on its first acoustic evening @Southstreet Arts Venue on the 19th Feb. 3 fantastic acts and a great place to hang out with friends and meet some new ones.

John Mark McMillan – The Medicine

As “How He loves” continues to be the “i’ll do a version of this” song of the past year or so, John Mark McMillan (the writer of the song) released his album “The Medicine” recently. McMillan songs may not immediately strike you as congregation friendly but perhaps his very fresh lyrics that are clearly drenched in theology might spark off creativity in yourself. Songs i’m enjoying atm are “Death in His Grace”,  “Carbon Ribs”, “Dress Us Up”, and of course “How He loves”. The album can be found on spotify here

“I’m just the band guy…”

Paul Baloche (written songs such as Our God Saves, Praise is rising…) has written a good short article on why maybe some musicians should stop seeing themselves as simply “the band guy” and step up into leading. Find it here

Should we worship the Holy Spirit?

Al Gordon from worshipcentral, has written an interesting short article on the Holy Spirit and if we should “worship” Him. A good little read if you have a minute! Find it here

My Reward

Worship together are giving away a free track from Kristian Stanfill’s new album “Mountains Move” called “My Reward”. Kristian Stanfill has written “Jesus Paid it All” (well the additional tag) and “Beautiful Jesus” and leads regularly at the Passion events in the USA. Grab it here

Stronger

This is the new song we played this sunday (excuse the poor quality on youtube). Below are the electric guitar and keys instruction videos to learn parts.

Happy New Year

Happy new year all! Hope you’ve had a brilliant holiday and are all rested up. The blog will be ever present, keeping you informed of what’s going on at RFC and also the wider church body. We’re looking forward in 2011 to our first acoustic evening @southstreet, our first recording and another fantastic carol concert among other things.

If you have any suggestions of how we can improve this site or what you’d like to see more of do let us know.
